It doesn't have to be the best laptop money can buy, but regardless of how much you're willing to spend, there's a device for everyone on offer this Prime Day. In fact, there might be too many laptops on sale—it's a little overwhelming.

The best deals on MacBooks before Prime Day ends
Apple's laptops are great beginner friendly devices, especially if you're looking for a thin and light computer with an operating system that gets out of the way and lets you work. Plus, they're the only laptops with Apple's powerful but efficient M-series chips, which promise high performance and long battery life. Creatives love them, and right now, you can get the most recent selection of MacBooks, with the M4 chip series, on sale. Whether you want a small MacBook Air or a big-screen MacBook Pro, there's a deal for you.
The best Windows laptop deals still running
While I've gotten used to using MacBooks over the years, deep in my heart, I'm a Windows gal. It's just what I grew up with, and sometimes, Apple's attempts at user-friendliness actually end up getting in my way by burying too many settings deep in menus where only "Advanced" users will see them. If that sounds familiar, there are also plenty of Windows laptop sales this Prime Day. Notable offers include one on Microsoft's Surface Laptop, which provides a MacBook-like experience, as well as two on "convertibles," which are laptops that can open up 360 degrees to become tablets. That's something you can't get with Apple.
The best gaming laptops still on sale
Gaming laptops are a great compromise for a gamer who lives in a small space, or who is always on-the-go, or who attends a lot of LAN parties. This Prime Day, you can find deals across a number of power levels, from decent last-gen computers that now cost about as much as a Chromebook, to reliable mid-range contenders. Companies often use these events to clear out older stock, so sales on the newest, most powerful laptops are a bit few and far between right now, but these computers should still be able to handle most games if you're willing to tweak your settings a bit.
The best Chromebooks still on sale
If you spend most of your computer time in an internet browser, a Chromebook is a great way to get just the computing power you need and nothing more, while saving some cash. They're not as powerful as Windows or Mac laptops, but they get the job done, and plenty of students are already familiar with them—schools are handing them out like candy these days. Plus, you can get either some Pixel-like AI features if you opt for a slightly more expensive Chromebook Plus, and funky form factors like detachable screens are common options.
Looking for something else? Retailers like Walmart, Best Buy, and Home Depot have Prime Day competition sales that are especially useful if you don’t have Amazon Prime.
